New Life for a Postwar Home
Often, adding on is not the only solution when seeking to get more functionality from your home. Good editing can make a compact floor plan more spacious and give the illusion of more space.
In this home, it was decided that a first floor bath& laundry that would allow empty nest Owners to age in place was more important than a first floor bedroom. The kitchen space was made smaller in giving over a corner to a much needed family entry but it performs so much better that it seems bigger as no longer does everyone cut through the working kitchen as they enter and exit the home.
The drop zone clutter now has a place beyond the kitchen and larger openings between rooms give more flexibility for furniture arrangements and social connections.
A patio door connects to a grill porch and back yard.
