The Place Restaurant

The Place was a popular neighborhood bar for decades and when it reopened the owners wanted to capture the original feel. The floor plan was reconfigured to move the ladies room out of the bar and create modesty as well as  a series of dark stained green leather booths and an improved bar.

A copper-top mahogany bar was extended to fill the new width of the room. Accent lighting was added and leather topped stools keep in the era.

Betty Brinkworth insisted on the traditional green plaid wallpaper and Mark Taylor added subtle lighting, brass accents and framed photos true to the original.

Anything that could be restored was such as the tin ceiling and what was added was true to the period.

A second phase of improvements included a new wrap around front porch for summer dining alfresco.
